I have been interested in and collected various mechanical objects for nearly my whole life. I dabbled in watches and watch repair before turning my attention to vintage fountain pens. As I began to amass more and more of them, I realized it was going to be more cost efficient to do my own work. And I also enjoyed the process. Eventually, I was encouraged by an author in the hobby to begin offering my repair and restoration services to the public. He said there weren’t enough competent people doing it, and those who did had very long back logs with turn around times reaching four to six months. 

 

I enjoy writing with fountain pens. And once I wrote with my first vintage pen, something about it hooked me differently than the modern pens I was using. I’d say it was a connection to history. To a time when manufactures built objects to last. Vintage pens were daily tools that had to be reliable, and that meant serviceable. They were also innovative, and elements of style and design. This still exists in the bespoke pen world today. 

 

I also come from a church background. I enjoy serving others. Getting grandma’s pen working again and seeing the smile on the face of her granddaughter when it is returned is something I cannot truly put a price on. It is a privilege to do that for another human being. Or having someone exclaim with glee: “wow! How’d you do that!?” when they put their pen to paper after bringing it to me because it just “never wrote the way it should.” I strive to put my best into every pen that comes across my workbench. I learned on my own carefully curated pen collection. As a result, I treat your pens with the utmost care. No matter what.
